Group Classes

All classes meet one hour each week for 7 weeks.   You will receive demonstrations, hands on instruction and time to practice with your dog.  Various dog behaviors will be discussed and there will be time for questions and answers concerning these topics.  At the end of each class, you will be given weekly homework assignments for you and your family to practice during the week.  Class sizes are kept small to ensure success and quality time with the trainer.         
      


Puppy Paws
Puppies must have proof of a minimum of two sets of vaccinations.

At this stage of development your puppy's brain is ready to start soaking up all the knowledge and experiences you can offer him/her.  They are very impressionable at this age so it's important to reinforce good behaivor from the start!  This class includes basic manners, basic commands, positive socialization experiences, confidence building exercises, problem prevention and puppy development.         

Paws l
Dogs must be 18 weeks or older and proof of current vaccinations is required.


  Dogs will learn eye contact, sit, down, walking nicely on leash, recalls, auto sits, wait, stay, leave-it and heel.  Dogs will learn to work through mild distractions.



Paws ll
Dogs must complete Paws l and proof of current vaccinations is required.

  After completing Paws l, the dogs will be challenged by adding duration (2-3 minute stays), distance (working 30 feet from your dog) and major distractions to all of their commands.  You will learn how to keep your dog focused while balls are bouncing, toys are squeaking, dogs are playing and food is tossed right under your dog's nose.  Dogs and handlers will enjoy this upbeat class filled with fun challenges that reinforce advanced behaviors.  



 Paws lll    
Dogs must complete Paws ll and proof of current vaccinations is required. 

  The next step!  Now that you have a well trained dog, it's time to take him or her out on the town!  Have you ever been to a restaurant with your dog?  What would you do with your dog? What behavior might you expect from him or her?  Do you avoid parks because your dog barks at skaters, other dogs, bikers or is easily distracted by birds?  What if your dog is overly shy or excited around other dogs?  Do you know how to address these concerns or are you reinforcing their behaivor?  Would you know how to handle your dog at a self dog wash or grooming salon?  Did you know there is a dog friendly mall you can visit with your dog?  Imagine shopping at Bloomingdale's with your dog.  We will visit these places and more as you learn how to control your dog in these environments.  Each field trip will offer a new experience and improve your handling skills.  At the end of six weeks, you will feel more confident and able to handle your dog  anywhere.  This class is tons of fun and spaces fill quickly. Sign-up today!  Your dog must complete Paws l and Paws ll courses before they will be eligible for this class.  If you and your dog received Basic and Advanced training through a different company you may still join this class.  You and your dog will need to pass an evaluation to ensure your safety and the safety of other students and dogs in this class.  The evaluation is free.

Therapy Dog Classes     

These classes will prepare you and your dog for the Delta Society/Therapy Dog Evaluation.  Prior to enrollment, your dog needs to have an understanding of sit, down, leave-it, loose leash walking, sit/stay, down/stay and able to perform a recall.  In addition, your dog must have a great temperament around other animals and people.  This class will provide you with detailed information about the Delta Evaluation and allow you and your dog an opportunity to practice taking the test together.
